Retrofitting Polesaver Sleeves Success

A recent training day with a major telecom provider proved to be a hit in more than one way.

The company was looking for a solution to early-onset decay in a poorly treated batch of poles. Due to easy-application, non-toxic materials and low-cost nature, Polesaver retrofit was identified as an ideal solution. The retrofitting process simply requiring excavation to a depth of 35cm prior to application.

In this case, the objective was to confirm ease of application and the impact of a sleeve on pole testing. This also included hammer testing and visual in-ground inspection.

Polesaver proved to allow easy inspection and testing including the use of resistograph tester. To allow further inspection, the outer sleeve was cut and peeled away to allow easy access to the pole surface. Polesaver patch tape was used to cover and create a water and airtight seal to any access points made through the sleeve.
